radio chat

firstly, I'm stunned, the second christian retreat centre type place in a week that has wifi, surely the church hasn't entered the 21st century already? much respect to the westbrook crusader centre in the isle of wight for it's amazing technological revolution!

last week, whilst away on the cwa conference, i spent a long time debating with miz about radio. miz is a confirmed listener (with particular reference to terry wogan's habit of mentioning sausages throughout his broadcasting?!) whereas i am still holding dear to good old .

now i'm only too aware that chris moyles is a jumped up idiot, and that generally radio 1 represents all that is worst in the 'dumbed downess' of our media culture (sorry to get all daily telegraph there) so i decided that on the way home from conference i would check out radio 2, just to see whether i have grown up yet.

big mistake.

the day i want to listen to the same breakfast show as my mum, and hear steve wright talking (passionately) about the butterfly farm you can watch from his webcam; will someone please take me out and shoot me! i think i'll stick with chris moyles' paddies and belches and chavtastic scott mills for just a little longer.

any comments - love to here 'em.

  • agreed, radio 6 rocks, but i can only listen to it at home. does radio 2 not make you feel a bit... um... old?

  • Having spent a weekend with young people listening to... well NOISE... I was SO pleased to have Steve Wright playing when I drove down to High Leigh - SUCH a relief.

I actually like the mix of the best of the new and the best of the old Radio 2 plays and if that makes me OLD then I'm old!

  • Here here, if radio 2 make people old just by listening then i'm proud to be old, Steve Wright is posibly one of the greatest DJ's of our time, when we were young he was with us on Radio 1, then we saw the light as did he and we are reunited on 2! i do miss ome of the characters though!
